We close at lunchtime on Thursday at the Bradeley site between 1:00 pm and 2:30 pm for staff training.

Saturday opening is for Extended Hours only, and only one Saturday each calendar month will be available.

These are primarily aimed at people who work and so if you have difficulty attending in normal hours, please ask for this service.

A Saturday morning is open one morning per calendar month. These appointments are currently being used to offer our minor surgery appointments to patients and are therefore by invited appointment only.

These Extended Opening hours are for pre-booked appointments only. There will be no telephone access,

All routine requests will NOT be handled at these times, e.g.

• prescriptions
• test results
• appointments, 

Please do not ask as refusal may offend.

When We Are Closed

When the Surgery is closed, if you phone the Surgery number you will be asked to ring the NHS 111 service. Calls are free from a land line or a mobile.

Urgent Care based in Basford currently provides the out-of-hours service. 

Call 999 in an emergency. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.

Haywood Walk-In Centre

7:00 am – 10:00 pm each weekday and 9:00 am – 10:00 pm during weekends and Bank Holidays.

Staff at the Walk-In Centre are able to treat minor injuries and illnesses.

The Hanley Health and Wellbeing Centre

The surgery is open 7 days a week, 365 days a year, including Bank Holidays. The opening hours are 8:00 am – 8:00 pm.

You can walk-in to see a GP or nurse without an appointment. There are no x-ray facilities at the Centre, if a fracture is suspected go direct to A&E.

Accident and Emergency Unit

The A&E Department have moved to a new Emergency Care Centre at the hospital. They are now based at the City General site, Hilton Road, Hartshill - 715444 (hospital switchboard)

This should only be used if your injuries or illness cannot safely be treated by a Walk-In Centre.

NHS 111

NHS 111 is a new service that's being introduced to make it easier for you to access local NHS healthcare services. You can call 111 when you need medical help fast but it’s not a 999 emergency.

Dentist:

Dental problems cannot be treated appropriately within General Practice. You should always approach your own dentist for emergency treatment.

Out of Hours Service Changes

There will be two significant changes to the out of hours General Practice service in the next few weeks.

Firstly – NHS 111

From Tuesday March 12th all out of hours calls will be taken by the new NHS 111 service

Instead of out of hours calls being diverted to North Staffs Urgent Care at Basford, patients who require out of hours advice or consultations will be asked to phone 111. This new NHS 111 service is run by NHS Direct and calls will be answered at their call centre in Dudley, West Midlands

Secondly – New Out of Hours Service Provider

Following on from the PCTs putting the service out to tender, from 1st April (Easter Monday) the out-of-hours GP service will not be provided by North Staffs Urgent Care. Patients will no longer be seen at their premises in Basford or satellite clinics in Norton and Tunstall in the evenings or at weekends.

The new service will be provided by Northern Doctors Urgent Care, operating under the name of Staffordshire Doctors Urgent Care Limited. Northern Doctors Urgent Care is part of the Vocare Group. Their new surgery is based in.Campbell Road, near the Michelin and Britannia Stadium.

Please note that the above changes have been instigated by NHS management not your local General Practitioners.
